New platform verifies who companies are hiring, from first application through employment, across 150+ countries
October 29, 2026 – Deel, the leading global HR and payroll platform, today launched Deel Security, an end-to-end workforce security solution that detects and prevents identity fraud throughout recruitment and employment globally.
Remote hiring has created a new attack surface, and AI is making it easier to exploit. In July 2026, the FBI and agencies from ten other countries warned that North Korean operatives are using stolen identities, forged documents, and AI-generated personas to infiltrate companies through standard hiring. In August, the FBI confirmed that one of them had worked remotely inside a U.S. federal agency. Earlier, the U.S. Department of Justice exposed a scheme that placed North Korean IT workers at more than 300 U.S. companies using 68 stolen identities.
Deel research, conducted with Censuswide among 1,011 HR professionals in the UK and US, found that 66% of organizations have seen an increase in suspicious or potentially fraudulent remote worker applications in the past 12 months. The same research found that 93% of HR leaders are concerned about deepfake or AI-generated workers, and 34% say their current identity checks are no longer sufficient. The findings point to a shift from one-time document checks to identity verification that is live, continuous, and reviewed by people. Certain industries are more heavily targeted, with IT (75%), Defence (72%), and Crypto (71%) reporting higher frequencies of suspicious applicants.
Gartner predicts that by 2028, one in four job candidate profiles worldwide will be fake, while First Advantage’s 2026 Global Trends Report found that 89% of HR hiring managers plan to add background screening and identity verification solutions within the next two years.
“Fraud comes in layers, and it is changing fast,” said Alex Bouaziz, Co-founder and CEO at Deel. “AI has made fake resumes, deepfakes, and stolen identities cheap to produce and hard to spot. The threat does not end at the offer, either. Most vendors verify identity at one point in the process. Deel Security protects every layer, from the first application through the full employee lifecycle.”
Deel Security analyzes risk signals across resumes, digital footprints, interviews, and identity documents, flagging deepfake or proxy interviewers, matching live selfies to government-issued IDs before an offer is made, and continuing to verify identities post-hire at critical security checkpoints.
Deel Security integrates with Deel ATS and other applicant tracking systems, and plugs into identity management tools like Okta so risk signals surface directly where recruiting and security teams already operate, backed by an exportable audit trail for every verification.
Deel Security is designed to support human review, not replace it. Each high-risk flag includes an explainability report and is reviewed by a Deel fraud expert, and final decisions stay with the customer’s hiring and security teams.
Built on technology from Clarity, the AI security company Deel acquired in July 2026, the platform has been used across Deel’s own internal hiring pipeline.
Deel Security is available starting October 29, 2026. Learn more at deel.com.
